Lochgilphead Synagogue
year 2
Background
Tasked with designing a place of worship for the small, rural community of Lochgilphead, I have proposed a synagogue.
To make reference to the town’s fishing heritage, the building sits on the very edge of the land much like a boat house and uses a palette of materials that relates to the small fishing boats that can be seen across the harbour.
Care and attention has been made to the specific requirements of a synagogue including separate seating for men and women as well as a residence for the Rabbi, a classroom and a multi-purpose space that can be used by the community.
