Background

Located in Kilmartin Glen, Argyll and Bute, this building provides accommodation for eleven philosophers. A drystone platform is built out of the steep, sloping site, making reference to the historic cairns nearby. Two timber clad, pitched roof volumes, containing the bedrooms, rest on top of this to take advantage of the views across the glen. Communal spaces such as the kitchen, shared living room and meeting room are located below.
